Frequently Asked Questions

Athletics

When do sports start?  The actual dates change each school year.  The dates for the 2011-12 school year will be available in May.

How will my student get the information about a certain sport?   The coaches will always have a preseason meeting, except for the Fall sports.

Notices for the meetings will always run for a week in the daily announcements, so students will need to listen to the announcements each morning.

What does my student need to have to try-out for a sport?  All students and parents are required to fill out the Alta Sierra Athletic Eligibility Form,

which is available on the school's website, or can be picked up in the front office.  This is the only form that will clear athletes to practice or try-out.

It includes the health screening form for the doctor to fill out, medical insurance information, warning of risk statement, attendance area information,

including transfer information if applicable, Code of Ethics, and a statement of understanding for androgenic/anabolic steroids.  This form must be

completed and turned in to the athletic office before a student can participate.

Buses

Where do I get bus schedule information?

Laptops

Who can be a part of the laptop program?

Schedules

How does my student change electives at the semester?  Your student needs to come to the cluster office and pick up a "Change of Schedule

Request Form."  The student, parent, exiting teacher, and entering teacher then need to sign the form.  When the form is completed and signed the

student needs to return it to the cluster office.  Changes are made at the semester based on space availability.  Not all elective opportunities are

offered every period and sometimes in order to grant the request a switch with the student's PE class may be needed.
